Know your neighborhood.

Know the best places for your children to play and places to avoid like alleys and dark stairwells. Show your children the safest routes to and from school and insist that they use the buddy system. Know your children's friends, where they live, their addresses and phone numbers. Insist that your children be home before dark. The more you know about your neighborhood the safer your family will be.
